Alias or shortcut for Guest OS in Mac OS X doesn't work

Hi,

I have installed the latest version of VBox and the shortcut created in VirtualBox Manager doesn't work for me. It is defaulted to open with the application "TextEdit.app". It does work however, if I change the default application manually to VirtualBox.app by selecting the shortcut, choose "Open With > Other... (VirtualBox.app)".

Legacy VM's have the xml extension and therefor get opened by any application registered for xml. We change it in the meanwhile, so that it is not possible to create shortcuts for legacy VM's (with the xml extensions) anymore. For new VM's the vbox extension is used, where VirtualBox should be the only registered application.
