1		I am encountering the same issue. Also on OS X and using vagrant, but using a more recent host OS and virtualbox version, with an older guest OS. So far, I've managed to reproduce the issue on three different versions of virtualbox.

So far, I've managed to reproduce the issue on three different versions of virtualbox. Like the original poster, the issue seems to be triggered by use of shared folders. I've encountered it while installing packages via npm, as well as when running gunicorn with the --reload flag.
